The Creative Curriculum: PreK2 - PreK4

There is no such thing as a terrible two! Before children develop the resources to communicate verbally, they speak out through their actions. Sometimes positively, sometimes not, but as educators we know that every moment, every experience with a child is a learning one.
We use The Creative Curriculum, a comprehensive curriculum that helps teachers achieve the very best program for children. Through The Creative Curriculum we create an environment where children learn to trust and joyfully explore their surroundings; make discoveries and develop a sense of themselves as competent learners and caring human beings. By providing interactions with children that are nurturing, consistent, and loving; and experiences that are appropriately challenging, toddlers in our program can grow and flourish.
The Creative Curriculum balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, with an emphasis on responding to childrens' learning styles and building on their strengths and interests. The Creative Curriculum enhances social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development.
Toilet training is also an important part of our curriculum; helping children to understand their bodies and respond appropriately. Through consistent routines and plenty of encouragement our children transition out of training pants in a short period of time. |

As children enter preschool, especially for the first time, they are entering a whole new world of wonder and experiences. Some are faced with fear and may shy away; while others put on a brave face, kiss mommy and daddy good-bye and embrace their new-found freedom. The Creative Curriculum gives us the tools to look at each child individually. Using the Creative Curriculum Developmental Continuum as a guide, we are able to adapt our program to the personal needs of each, meeting the expectations that all children will learn.
Another equally important component to our program is literacy. Our children are exposed to a wide array of vocabulary everyday. Parents are often amazed at how well a three-year old can carry on a conversation. We use the NJ Early Learning Assessment System as a tool to ensure that our children not only reach the benchmark for success, but sail right pass it.
Once our children enter Pre-K4, they are exposed to Everyday Math, an enriched, comprehensive, and balanced mathematics curriculum developed by the University of Chicago School Mathematics Project. Children learn basic mathematic strands: geometry, data, probability, measurement and more, all tailored to meet children at their individual levels of learning. |
